Project Construction: 2008-2009This roadway improvements project consisted of the reconstruction of 131st Street for approximately one mile beginning east of Pettigru Drive and proceeding eastward to approximately 430 feet west of Ditch Road and the reconstruction of Towne Road from approximately 350 feet south of 131st Street and proceeding northward to approximately 450 feet north of 131st Street. The improvements included new asphalt pavement, concrete curb and gutter, asphalt recreational paths, curb ramps, storm sewer system, street lighting, decorative street signage, landscaping, and pavement markings. The intersection of 131st Street and Towne Road was converted to a multi-lane roundabout and the entire roadway was converted from a two lane roadway section to a boulevard including wide, landscaped medians, ultra wide driving lanes and recreational pathways with utility strips in each direction.
