CrossRoad Engineers Donates $12,000 for Beech Grove Park Rehabilitation

CrossRoad Engineers partnered with Beech Grove's Parks Department to make cosmetic repairs and drainage improvements to the basketball courts in Sarah Bolton Park. CRE donated half of the cost of the improvements as well as its design services for the drainage and surface work. The courts were in dire need of repair and their condition was noticed by CRE staff since they are in close proximity to CRE's offices and used regularly for lunch-time basketball games. CRE felt a duty to contribute to the project as a corporate citizen of Beech Grove. "We feel at home here and use the basketball courts on a regular basis. We recognized the age of the courts and the impaired drainage in the area, so we want to do our part to invest in a valuable asset of a park we enjoy," said Trent Newport in an interview with the Southside Times.

With CRE's help the basketball courts were given a complete make-over. Surface cracks were repaired and an asphalt overlay and new acrylic color sports coat and striping was applied. On September 29th CRE tested out the new courts by challenging Beech Grove's Police and Fire Department to a game. The Mayor even attended to check out the action! CRE employs some great ball players, but unfortunately on that day the City's team was better. Afterwards, both teams and spectators had lunch together in one of the park's shelter houses.

131st Street Re-opens in Carmel, IN

CrossRoad Engineers' Transportation Team designed 131st Street from the roundabout at Towne Road continuing east until just before the intersection at Springmill Road. This two-mile roadway improvements project consists of three roundabouts, two S-shaped culverts, and one bridge structure. Upon completion we hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony in conjunction with the City of Carmel to re-open the road to the public. The guests of honor included the Mayor of Carmel, James Brainard, and several local residents. We are proud of our work and we hope the residents of Carmel enjoy driving on the new roadway as much as we enjoyed working on the project from design to completion!

Scott Ford Celebrates 10 Years at CrossRoad!

Scooter celebrates 10 years at CRE

We're proud of our consistently low employee turn-over. In our 13 years of existence, only three full-time employees have decided to leave our company to work for a competitor, and we think that says a lot about our staff and the culture we've created at CrossRoad Engineers. Scott Ford is the ninth CrossRoad Employee to complete ten years of service. Scott is an integral part of our team, and we're privileged that he chose to work with us.

Congratulations on 10 years, Scooter!

Quarterly Blood Drive

In December 2008 CrossRoad Engineers hosted its first blood drive as part of our Wellness Program. We had such a great turnout (more than 75% of our employees signed up to donate!!) that we've committed to host Quarterly Blood Drives at our office. On Blood Drive days, staff members of the Indiana Blood Center arrive via the Bloodmobile, and accept blood donations from our employees. The entire process takes less than an hour and is completely painless for most participants.

Stones Crossing Road, Johnson County

Arms of Life

In memory of Jake and Travis Findley, CrossRoad Engineers donated over $12,000 in professional services in an effort to make railroad crossings in Johnson County safer for all travelers. Our services were part of a large community effort to get proper flashing lights and crossing arms installed at 4 separate railroad crossing locations (Stones Crossing, Smokey Row Road, Olive Branch Road, and Whiteland Road). The first 3 of these crossings were constructed in the spring of 2008 and are now open.  For more information on the Jake and Travis Arms of Life Fund, please see the website at www.armsoflife.com.

Field Trip to Carmel, IN
Staff on the bus headed to Carmel
The City of Carmel, through its Engineering and Water Utilities Department has been a continuous and loyal client for the past 12 years.  It is often the case that our designers and technicians do not get to view the finished product that results from their drawing and planning, and our field inspectors do not get to showcase the construction that they have inspected to the office staff.  To remedy this, we chartered a bus, brought along boxed lunches and took a tour of many of the projects we’ve worked on for the City of Carmel. Our first stop was Carmel’s City Hall to thank the Mayor for his confidence in our firm.  To show our gratitude, we presented him with a framed aerial photograph of 131st Street from Springmill Road to Towne Road.  This road was designed by our Transportation Team and was recently constructed under the watchful eyes of our Inspection Team. We’re proud to be involved in Carmel’s efforts to make travel in their City safer and we look forward to this continued partnership.
